The 6 Myths of SEO

This is the first article in the series. I have been working with Marketing and content optimization using SEO and Tech SEO techniques for many years now, and I’ve learned a few things about the subject from my experience, which I would like to share with you.

Let’s look at some common falsehoods surrounding SEO content optimization:

1 – The results are immediate

This is one of the big myths about SEO techniques. Many people believe that by optimizing content and choosing the right keywords, they will reach the top rankings on search engines in no time. It doesn’t work like that, at least not that often. In my opinion, projects take at least 6 to 9 months to start showing results.

2 – SEO just means choosing the right keywords

Another major SEO myth. Content optimization for search engines goes way beyond keyword selection and application. It aims to generate more leads and more conversions, improve Google placement and, most importantly, provide excellent user experience. For example, in order for content to reach more people, it needs to be attractive, objective, easy to read and filled with  relevant information.

3 – Once you earn a high Google ranking, you no longer need to worry about content

On the contrary, once you gain a good search engine ranking, you should continue to track your content, its performance and relevance, and how it compares to what the competition is producing. More up-to-date and informative articles than yours may be just around the corner. In SEO we use the concept of “Evergreen content” to keep content up-to-date longer.

4 – The longer the content, the higher it will rank

Long content does tend to perform better than short texts, because it contains more information or details. But that’s not a hard and fast rule. An well-written, detailed, easy-to-read 800-word text with current and relevant data will rank much higher than a 3,000-word article full of repetition and rambling. Remember, quality is what matters most, not quantity. If you repeat your keywords too often, Google may actually penalize your site.

5 – Quality content guarantees a good ranking

Unfortunately not. Yes, quality content can lead to all sorts of benefits and positive results, but it won’t cause your site to rise in the search engines rankings on its own. For this to happen, other factors are important too, including the amount of external links received, loading speed, responsive design and a high level of usability.

6 – Use your intuition when choosing keywords

This method is not advisable. Ideally, you should carry out in-depth research, using reliable and high-quality tools like SEMrush or Keyword Planner. These tools will help to assess your chosen keywords’ popularity and performance, making it much easier to obtain the desired results.

Make a note of these tips, and produce successful content!
